Caramel French Toast

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups firmly packed brown sugar

2/3 cup butter or margarine

6 tbsp light corn syrup

10 (1 1/4 –inch) French bread slices

4 eggs, beaten

2 ½ cups milk

1 tbsp vanilla

¼ tsp

3 tblsp sugar

1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon

¼ cup butter or margarine, melted

 

Directions:

In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, ¾ cup butter, and corn syrup. Cook ober medium heat, stirring constantly for 5 minutes or until bubbly. Pour syrup evenly into a lightly greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Place bread slices over syrup. Combine eggs, milk vanilla, and salt. Stir well, and pour over bread. Cover, and refrigerate at least 8 hours. Preheat oven to 350⁰. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over soaked bread. Drizzle ¼ cup melted butter over top. Bake, uncovered, 45-50 minutes, or until golden and bubbly. Serves 10.

 

Breakfast it's the most important meal of the day. In our house we go for scrambled eggs, cereal, waffles and pancakes. Sometimes we get a little fancy. When we do you will find those recipes here. 

Monkey Bread

Ingredients:

1 cup brown sugar

1 tbsp. cinnamon

1 stick melted margarine

3 tubes refrigerated biscuits

1 cup crushed pecans

 

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350⁰. Grease bundt pan with cooking spray. Put half the biscuits into the pan. Add half the following ingredients: brown sugar, cinnamon and pecans. Pour in ½ stick of margarine. Add remaining biscuits. Add remaining brown sugar, pecans, cinnamon and margarine. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes. Take off the foil and bake for 20 additional minute to finish the bread and give it a crunchy topping.
